WHAT?

  • TONES OF BERLIN is a Berlin-based music video platform  built on collaboration.

  • It’s not a concert. It’s a session where musicians jam and reinterpret songs together in real time — aligning ideas as they play — and the audience sees the full process unfold.

The
Program

The Program

  1. InTone — Jam Together
Every session begins with InTone Jam—a genre-blending warm-up featuring only members of the Tones Collective. The Collective selects the genre mix for each jam session.

  2. ReTone — Reinterpret Originals or Covers Together
ReTone is where collaboration becomes visible. Featured Artists bring two different songs—originals or covers—into the session.

    • First Song — The Reference
The first song is performed exactly as it is, without the Collective joining. It serves as the artistic reference so everyone understands the original sound. This version is not produced into a video.

    • Second Song — The Collaboration
The second song is collaboratively reinterpreted live with members of the Tones Collective. The track is shared in advance in the session alignment group so participating musicians can prepare individually.

      Song requirement:

      • Simple structure and harmonies

      • Reduced soundscape

      • Maximum length around four minutes

This leaves space for interpretation and collaboration.
During the session, the Featured Artist leads as the song owner—guiding the arrangement while staying open to creative input from the Collective.
With limited time, we typically record two to three takes, with short alignment moments in between to refine the arrangement.

What Happens after the Session?
Selected performances become cinematic music videos. ReTone songs are released in alignment with the Featured Artist. Jam highlights are shared without individual approval (video consent required in advance).
Sometimes we publish the full take. Sometimes just the strongest moments — whatever captures the session’s energy best.
